** This article was originally publised at TSE in last week of December 2019 **

This is the last week of the year and there are partiers and happenings all around this weekend and also in coming weekend. Year end means time to relax and say adieu to the year and welcome another year.

From the time of Christmas to celebrating the new year, itís all about fun , relaxing , joy and happiness .

Occasions and festivity can be also linked with career and the easy word for us in this regard is event management. Organizing events have become a common area of employability in recent years as lots of events and celebration takes place during the last week.

It does not mean that events take place only during the last week of the year but there are more events in these days.

Events in the last week and first week of the year include many activities. It is the application of project management to the creation and development of large scale events such as festivals, conferences, ceremonies, formal parties, concerts, or get together.

Events management involves studying the brand, identifying the target audience, devising the event concept, and coordinating the technical aspects before actually launching the event.

The process of planning and coordinating the event is usually referred to as event planning and which can include budgeting, scheduling, site selection, acquiring necessary permits, coordinating transportation and parking, arranging for speakers or entertainers, arranging decor, event security, catering, coordinating with third party vendors, and emergency plans.

One does not need much formal qualification to be part of these professions. Some of the qualities which are important are skills like good communication skill, self confidence and must be able to manage people and also work in team, etc.

Having good knowledge over language including writing is another advantage. Leadership skills, work under pressure are also needed.

Students of Mass Comm or Public relations can also take up this profession. This is a profession which demands high perfection, hard work and a lot of patience. With the event management industry poised to grow by leaps and bounds, trained candidates have excellent job opportunities.

The success of an event manager or event management team depends upon its capacity to procreate themes that have never been thought of before.

Some of the courses related to event management are :
Certificate Course in Event Management ,
Diploma in Event Management,
Post Graduate Diploma in Event Management,
Post Graduate Diploma in Event Management and Public Relations, etc.

There are some institutes that offer these kinds of courses. People can start event management even without doing any of these courses. There are institutes offering these courses or aspirants studying management may choose event management as their career choice.

With experience any one may earn good amount of money through events and celebrations. As the year is ending and we are also ready to welcome another year, I wish all our readers a great year ahead.

When you read this then next time you may think of organizing some events or guide others to do that so that the career option of event management gets popularity in our region.

Let the coming year be another happening year and year with good cheer for all of us.
