Imphal, April 13 2003: Being the world’s largest industry- Tourism contributes when we pack our bags for any holiday, tour and business trip for few days. Tourism is a direct function of the globalization process, economic activity, commercial traveling and holidaying and the results appear excellent in near future.

According to hospitality industry, this year India will host to about 50 lakh foreign and 9 crore domestic tourists. To accommodate them, industry would need about 100,000 hotel rooms, a good 55% more than the 68,573 rooms available in March 1998. To keep pace with it, obviously qualified personnel are equally important in all discipline.

Hotel Management is thriving in the country today and dynamic young generations are shifting their choice towards this. The advantage of doing this course lies in the fact that students from this course are equipped for other courses as well. Not only various division or discipline in catering world or hotels, the related industries also give scope to the students.

Fewer chances are there to go off the job, other than they leave and jump to another better opportunities. Hence the demand for young men and women with specialized knowledge and recognized qualifications is greater now than it has ever been. Business growth and technological development throughout the world will continue to fuel demand.

Subhas Bose Institute of Hotel Management exists to educate and train those ambitious individuals who want to taste it. A clever student by choosing SBIHM and taking full advantage of the center’s excellent facilities will be best to achieve the career objectives. They find it the safest Institute totally committed to deliver the best cadets to the industries through the latest techniques and grooming them up to the expected standard of the industry.

The reputed hotel executives expect from a fresh graduate - good personality and skilled in technical knowledge, which they posses from here. SBIHM’s principle of constantly improving quality and scope is reflected in its courses which are designed to be flexible, practical and responsive to the demand of ever-changing industry.

Basic working understanding of the subjects, then further exploration and analysis and ultimately the application of acquired knowledge and skills to practical everyday working situation. With the excellent experience of the college professors and through special classes of academicians and executives of the hotel industry, the entire course is extra-ordinarily designed to enable students to maximize their potential in the global market.

SBIHM has its own course curriculum at par with the existing top class approved Institutes in the national level as well as International level. More-so-ever, London College of Management, England came forward and recognized the effort of SBIHM through their association to develop the course curriculum further. The standard of business interaction, communication skills and finest Management techniques in respect of Hotel and Catering Management are taken out as cream from different International education bodies and included in our course activities. Furthermore this Institute is under the Act XXVI of 1961, of the Govt of West Bengal, India. As more surprise, in the days to come one may find more technical bodies, because they have to.

SBIHM offers 3 years Diploma in Hotel Management Catering Technology and Applied Nutrition with integrated 6 months internship in 2nd and 3rd year each specially in 4 star hotels in India and aboard. The near future plans to upgrade the course to 4 years graduation level and specialization Post Graduate course which are under study. It is needless to mention that if any successful student wants to move ahead for further studies, the Institute makes sure that they are with them to push them up any cost. The man reasons for the institute to make sure that the students get exposure in only 5 star and 5 star deluxe hotels in form of training, is because they will turn out to be gem of hotelier and can move freely in any other type of Catering establishments.

SBIHM’s classrooms and all other modern facilities in favour of studies, well planned practical labs for different core subject create ample interest to the students. Well stocked library with all sorts of book from Indian and International author related to course curriculum help them to enrich their technical knowledge.

SBIHM’s placement division works uninterrupted throughout the year to place its student in the industries. One may find SBIHM cadets in ITC groups, Hyatt, Hilton, Sheraton, Goa Renaissance, Ramada Inn, Leela Palace, H.H.I, Peerless Inn, Holiday Inn, Reliance group, Barista franchises, ITDC and also in various Airlines, Shipping lines and multi-national corporate catering firms and call centres and it’s record till date is 100% result oriented and will remain in future.

SBIHM’s output in developing a prospective career if counted in terms of fees is minimum in India. They believe "give minimum with sincere study and get maximum they way you can". Those who dare to dream with a low economic status can brighten their future with ease. The fee structure, which is designed specially to suit everyone for three years, is only Rs 82,000/- payable in 8 installments. SBIHM is exceptionally yours once a student gets himself started in this career and leave proudly.

The best example may be noted, this year Imtiaz Ahmed, son of Mr.Rafique Ahmed, O.C. traffic division of Salt Lake has received the award, 'Golden Star' for his performance in training in Welcom Rama International, Aurangabad, out of all other students of India and this honour is given by the Honourable Cabinet Minister Mr. Sharad Yadav and Madam Basundhara Raje Scindhia. The students groom themselves, socialize, build up and develop public relations through different activities every year. They organize cultural programme and food festival and invite people from industry and elites of the societies to encourage and judge their efforts. Through the college magazine the students show their creativity and skills. Their effort is complemented last year by His Excellency, Shri Viren J.Shah the Governor of West Bengal, the honourable ex-Minister of state for External Affairs, Govt. of India Shri Ajit Kr.Panja and noted industrialist Shri Harsha Vardhan Neotia, MD of Ambuja Groups.

They have entrance examination to start with. Then the students have to participate in group discussion and personal interview. Through this process they want to know exact how much the particular candidate is determined to this career. When the candidate crosses the hurdle, he is selected for admission. Most of the students are from this state but a large number is also from U.P, Bihar, Himachal Pradesh, Maharashtra, Port Blair and South India.
