Eastern India journalists conference at Guwahati

The National Union of Journalists (India) is a representative body of working journalists spread all over the country. It has on its roll over 12,000 journalists, including top leaders in the profession. The NUJ(I) is a member of International Federation of Journalists (IFJ), Brussels that has members in more than 100 countries with a membership of 5 lakh.
You perhaps know that NUJ(I) is one of the largest journalist organizations in our country, As a 4th pillar of democracy it is working as sentinel guards of the society and Journalists. Moreover, it has been working as watchdog of every event of the nation and societies from its establishment.
We are glad to inform you that the 18th Biennial Conference of the National Union of Journalists (India) was held in Kota (Rajasthan) from September 13 to 14, 2015 and journalists from 21 states has participated in this Mahakumbh of working journalists. The Conference discussed the issues pertaining to the media, ethics in media, special law to protect journalists, good working conditions for Journalists, contract system, welfare of working journalists, the problems of women journalists and specifically discussed on North East Region of the country.
In this context the national executive has authroised me as national secretary also General Secretary of Journlaists Association of Assam to unite our seven sisters states of the North East Region. The National Unon of Journalists (India) is planning to hold a meeting of our North Eastern states in 25 March,2016. Senior leaders of NUJ will attend this meeting along with other eminent dignatories of the society.
Journalists Association of Assam (JAA) are going to host the Eastern India journalists conference on 25-26 March,2016 at the Srimanta Sankardeva Kalakshetra ,Guwahati ,over 20 delegates from West Bengal, Bihar, Odisha and Jharkhand besides another 30 representatives coming from Assam & eight sister states of the North Eastern region are expected to participate in the Conference and deliberate on the role of journalists in carrying the message of new India and educating the masses to fight the anti national forces .
The Meeting will be inaugurated by The Honble Chief Minister of Assam Sjt. Tarun Gogoi and the Honbl Union Minister youth Affairs & Sports, Govt. of India Sjt Sarbananda Sonowal will be present as a special Guest.
A few most distinguished Journalists & eminent Editors Including NUJ(I) President (Executive Editor Hindustan Samachar ) Mr. Ras Bihari and Secretary General Mr. Ratan Dixit will also attend the conference.
