Imphal, June 20 2010: After overcoming heavy odds like landslide and unfit bridges, around 45 goods laden trucks arrived here from Jiribam and Silchar this evening.

A large convoy of trucks which left Jiribam for Imphal on June 17 were stranded at Tupul and Shanti Khunou along NH 53 due to landslides.

The last batch of the same convoy comprising of 45 trucks including oil tankers crossed Tupul for Imphal after land-slides debris blocking the highway at Tupul was cleared by BRO this afternoon.

However, many other vehicles are currently stranded at Shanti Khunou as one truck leading the convoy got stuck in a sloughy point.

Even though more vehicles are expected to arrive at Imphal tonight, more than 500 vehicles are currently stranded at different points of the highway.
