Imphal, April 10: Bomb experts of the State Police today morning retrieved and later successfully detonated an Indian-made hand grenade suspected to have been placed by unidentified armed persons at the residential compound of one Mutum Haridev at Bashikhong Kitna Panung Thongkhong.

In condemnation of placing of the bomb and creating fear among the people, aggrieved local residents staged a protest demonstration at Bashikhong Lamlong Bazar demanding to know the reason and identity of the group or the individual responsible for it.

The bomb was retrieved by the bomb experts of the Police Department after the family members contacted the police and was later detonated successfully at a deserted spot of Imphal river bed at around 7.45 am.

The protest demonstration staged under the aegis of Bashikhong Meira Nupi Welfare Association strongly decried hurling or placing of bomb in residential area and public places.
