Imphal, December 29: The BSF post of 88th Bn located at Nongpok Sekmai was attacked by suspected UG cadres last night.

The UG cadres reportedly used machine guns and rocket launchers in their attack against the BSF post which took place at about 8.45 pm yesterday when a ROP party had just returned to their camp.

Even as the BSF personnel retaliated, there is no report of any casualty on either side except for a partial damage to a BSF vehicle.

A rocket shell fired by the UG cadres landed inside the BSF camp but failed to explode.

The shell was later safely defused by explosive experts of Manipur Police at about 1 pm today.

Meanwhile BSF in a statement said that the militants opened fire at a mobile patrol party of the BSF CI with RPG, Lethod and small arms.

The BSF personnel showed great restraint and fired with precision causing severe injuries to at least two militants.

The civilians have expressed their gratitude to the BSF for showing restraint, it claimed.
