Imphal, September 14: One suspected underground activist has been gunned down by a combined team of Imphal West district police commandos and troops of 12 Maratha Light Infantry at Shamurou Awang leikai under Wangoi police station at around 7.56 pm today.

According to police, one Chinese-made hand grenade was recovered from the possession of the slain UG suspect who appears to be a Meetei.

The body has been picked up and deposited at the mortuary of RIMS Hospital for identification and post-mortem.
