Imphal, February 22: The identity of the UG shot dead by Thoubal Police Commandos during an alleged encounter near the gate of Universal College at Thoubal Wangkhem under Yairipok Police Station last night has been established as an activist of the armed outfit PULF.

The slain PULF activist was one Md Alif Khan alias Calvin (20) s/o Md Ahamed alias Md Ahanba of Yairipok Changamdabi Makha Leikai.

According to SP of Thoubal police, he was the town commander of PULF (Umar Farooque faction), Imphal East.

One Chinese made hand-grenade, 20 empty case of 9 mm and 10 empty case of AK ammunition were recovered from the spot, the SP informed.

Meanwhile, the body has been handed over to the family members after post-mortem at Lilong PHC today.
