Imphal, June 03 2009: Womenfolk of Khurai Puthiba today burnt down effigy of the state chief minister, O Ibobi demanding un-conditional release of the volunteers of student bodies arrested by the police in connection with the murder of professor Md Islamuddin on May 25 .

They burnt the effigies during a sit-in protest held at Khurai Puthiba which mother of the DESAM education affairs secretary A Thoithoi, Bimolata also participated.

She said his son was called out by the police commandos on the night of May 25 saying that they have something to talk with him but on the next day, they claimed him as underground.

The arrest of students' leaders while the real culprits could not be hunt out is a wrong step of the government.

As mother, she could not tolerate with the detention of his son under NSA by forcing him to sign in a blank paper, she lamented demanding unconditional release of the volunteers of student bodies.
