Imphal, March 07, 2010: Tthe government of Manipur stands ready and committed to protect all persons living in Manipur and would not tolerate any violence against any person, the Home Department, Government of Manipur declared categorically.

In a press release issued yesterday, the Home Department stated that the government has received information that there are certain elements attempting to pressurise the media to issue notices forcing certain sections of people to leave Manipur.

An unique strength of Manipur has been its rich multi-cultural diversity.

Manipur has also benefited from the many students and professionals working in different parts of the country.

Hence, media and all sections of society are urged to firmly uphold the age-old communal diversity and harmony and resist any steps that might cause divide in society or differences among the people living in Manipur, or other parts of the country, stated the press release.
