Imphal, October 22 2009: Soubam Surkumar of Uripok Achom Leikai - who has been alleged of inflicting injury to a neighbour's daughter due to mindless firing on the night of October 18 - has refuted the charges leveled against him by his neighbour Yurembam Dutason and clarified that the charges are baseless.

Addressing media persons today at the Manipur Press Club hall here, S Surkumar said he was in deep slumber in front of the TV on the night of the occurrence of the incident.

He came to know of the incident when the police conducted a raid at their house around 11.30pm.Surkumar said, as the owner of an Imphal-Guwahati bound passenger bus he accompanied the bus in the tours.

He claimed that he has no criminal antecedent.

He added that he doesn't possess licensed gun.

Surkumar further appealed the concerned individuals or group to clarify at the earliest time how and why the incident occurred.
