Imphal, November 04 2008: A 44 year-old man, identified as Heikrujam Ibo Singh of Uchiwa Leirak Acouba was abducted by some unknown persons from his home and beaten up, then shot dead last night at a place in Uchiwa area about 5 kms south west of Mayang Imphal police station in Imphal west district.

Police picked up the body and kept it at the morgue of the RIMS Hospital.

In another incident which happened around 4.38 p.m.today, a team of Imphal West district police commandos shot death a susptected underground insurgent in an alleged encounter at Kameng Yengou Cheeng about 8 kms north of Lamshang police station.

Police recovered a China made hand grenade from the death person.

The man, about 30 years old, is yet to be identified.
