Imphal, March 29: The corpse of Sera Banu who succumbed on the way to Shija Hospital after she was shot by some unidentified persons at Keirao Makting Makha Leikai under Irilbung police station last night remains unclaimed.

On the other hand, a Joint Action Committee has been constituted against the killing.

Sera Banu (23), wife of Md Najub Ali left behind three daughters.

She was pregnant.

Around 20 armed persons came to Sera Banu's home last night asking for her husband.

When she told them that he was not at home, the armed men opened fire towards Sera Banu wantonly.

Md Najub runs a workshop for steel windows and doors and iron almirahs at Hatta.

In connection with the killing, a public meeting was held today after which a joint action committee has been constituted.

The meeting resolved to urge the Govt to protect the lives of innocent civilians.

It also resolved not to claim the corpse of Sera Banu until and unless the killers are identified and booked under law.
