Imphal, September 05: One suspected underground cadre has been slain in an encounter with a combined team of Imphal West district police commandos, 32 Assam Rifles and 109th Bn CRPF at Yumnam Huidrom under Wangoi police station at around 7.45 pm today.

According to police sources, security force personnel were deployed at the said area based on report of some UG cadres being present there.

Upon seeing some youths moving in a suspicious manner the troops asked them to stop but the security forces came under fire, the sources maintained while adding that one was killed in retaliatory firing while the others escaped in the darkness.
