Imphal, July 01 2010: Business communities too have endorsed the decision of the transporters not to use the National Highway 39 if there is no assurance on protection of the drivers from threat and intimidation.

A joint meeting of the Transporters and Drivers' Council, Manipur (TDCM) and Bazar Business Communities was held at the MG Avenue office of the former today.

The meeting unanimously resolved that no vehicle should ply along the National Highway 39 until the Government of India, Nagaland and Manipur jointly gave an assurance that the drivers and passengers would be protected from illegal extortion and threats.

Furthermore, it was decided that vehicles would start plying along National Highway 52 for lifting of essential goods of the people.
