Imphal, June 27: Numerous women, youth and civil society organisations as well as political parties have strongly condemned the June 26 bomb attack at Ningthoukhong Bazar where a people had converged for a protest session in a peaceful and democratic manner.

While the bodies described the attack as acts of terrorism and fervently appealed to all concerned to refrain from such heinous conduct in the future they also accused the Government for failing to protect civilian lives from the scourge of insurgents and demanded that the injured by extended financial assistance to meet treatment cost.

Taking grim note of the attack, the organisations opined that targeting peacefully assembled people is akin to sending out a chilling message that those who do not oblige monetary demands and diktats of armed group/s are liable for prosecution.
