Imphal, August 25: Even as 36 BRTF has begun road strengthening works on National Highway 53, personnel of the task force belonging to 25 BRTF stationed at Imphal are currently engaged in the construction of NH-150 on a war footing The 25 BRTF which has been entrusted with the task of constructing NH-150 from Churachandpur has set March, next year to complete the construction of 20 Km stretch of road from Churachandpur.

Road widening and jungle cutting task are underlay in full swing and black-topping has now started along the route, a highly placed source in the task force informed The Sangai Express.

Though the work was supposed to start in 1991, it began only this year owing to the grave law and order situation, he said while hoping that the work will proceed smoothly in view of the deployment of adequate security force along the route.

The route will go up to Aizawl, he said adding that the route till Mizoram will be only a single lane highway.

The 25 BRTF which is also responsible for looking after NH-53 from Imphal to Barak will also strengthen Irang bridge that lies within this stretch after Monsoon, he further said.

All materials for strengthening the bridge are ready, the source added.

Except for Irang bridge which is Baily type all the bridges located along the route are permanent (RCC) ones.
