Imphal, November 22: Even as the family members have claimed the corpse of Asem Brajamani after post mortem at RIMS this afternoon, the Apunba Lup has joined the JAC to launch a series of agitation against the alleged extra-judicial killing of Brajamani.

Brajamani was shot dead by Imphal West commandos at Khoyathong in the night of November 18.While police claimed that Brajamani was killed in an encounter, family members have been contending that Brajamani was picked up from their home.

Consequent upon the failure to arrive at any understanding during the meeting held yesterday with JAC representatives and the Chief Minister, the JAC has tied up with the Apunba Lup to launch intense forms of agitation.

The two bodies will be taking out a demonstration under the banner, "Kill us all" on November 23 and 24.Briefing media persons at HERICOUN office today, the JAC listed their demands which include institution of a Judicial Inquiry into the killing of Brajamani, fitting punishment to guilty commando personnel and repeal of Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act 1958 from the entire State.

A JAC representative decried that the Chief Minister failed to give any positive response to its demands during the meeting held yesterday.

The Chief Minister even went on to say that no Judicial Inquiry would be instituted into the killing of Brajamani, he conveyed.

Taking serious note of the total absence of security for innocent civilians, the alleged free hand given to security personnel to kill civilians at their whim, total disregard for the lives of civilians and failure of the State Government to entertain any complaint or pleading by the people, the JAC spokesperson observed that there is no living space for civilians in Manipur.

As such, the JAC and the Apunba Lup are jointly launching a demonstration movement under the banner, "Kill us all" on November 23 and 24.In case the Government continues its indifference to the demands of the JAC even after the protest demonstration, a mass rally and a public meeting will be organised at Phayeng on November 25.The meeting will chalk out the future course of agitation which will be more intense, warned the spokesperson.
