Imphal, March 18: A protest rally was taken out today against the killing of Salam Brojen of Irong Khunou Awang Leikai by unidentified armed persons at about 6.45 pm yesterday.

Brojen was abducted from his home by the armed persons before he was shot dead at Sekmaijin Mamang Leikai.

Decrying the arbitrary killing of Brojen, the people of Irong Khunou and surrounding villages took out a protest rally from Irong Khunou Awang Leikai to Laphupat Tera this afternoon.

The protesters held placards and festoons which read as, "What was the fault of Brojen", "Brojen was innocent", "Don't bully civilians", "Punish the murderers of Brojen" etc.

After the rally, a public meeting was also held at Irong Khunou Bazar during which it was resolved to constitute the JAC Against the Killing of Salam Brojen.

To appeal to all concerned to explain the killing and to urge the authority concerned to book the culprits were other resolutions adopted during the meeting.

The meeting also resolved not to claim the corpse of Brojen until the culprits are booked and also to appeal to all NGOs and civil organisation of the State for cooperation towards the JAC in its various protest movements.
