Imphal, February 12: Two persons including a second lieutenant of the proscribed UNLF were found shot dead by unidentified persons in different parts last night.

An activist of the proscribed UNLF in the rank of second lieutenant was found shot dead by unidentified gunmen at Hiyanglam Lai Panganba, 6 kms west of Kakching Police Station at around 9 pm yesterday.

The slain activist has been identified as Salam Biren alias Mangal (31) s/o Chadumba of Keibul Mayai Leikai.

There was one fatal bullet mark on his head.

The body was picked up by the police and handed over to the family members after post-mortem examination at Lilong PHC today.

In another incident, unidentified gunmen struck again killing a 36-year old man at Phoubakchao Awang Leikai under Mayang Imphal Police Station at around 11 pm yesterday.

The victim has been identified as Heikrujam Mono alias Ibomcha (36) s/o Late Chinguba of Arong Heibong Makhong.

He was in the business of hiring out Maruti vans and was said to be an acquaintance of S Biren who was found shot dead at Hiyanglam Lai Panganba.

According to his family members, Mono had been allegedly picked up by unidentified persons numbering around 4/5 of them from the house at around 6.30 pm of February 6.Acting on the information given by the unidentified persons, his mother, wife, two sons and one daughter have been allowed to meet him on February 9.One fatal bullet shot from back of his head exited through the neck.

The body has been handed over to his family members after post-mortem examination at RIMS mortuary today.
