Imphal, April 06: Effigies of a number of Ministers of the SPF Govt including those of the Chief Minister and police officers were burnt today at Keishamthong in protest against the murder of Longjam Uttamkumar.

Uttamkumar was shot dead by police commandos in civies at his own home at Keishamthong Longjam Leirak on March 29 .

The effigies burnt today in protest against the killing were those of Chief Minister Okram Ibobi, Ministers DD Thaisii, TN Haokip, Th Debendra, K Ranjit, Phungzathang Tonsing, N Loken, N Biren, Y Erabot, Allaudin Khan, L Jayantakumar, Chief Secretary Jarnail Singh, DGP Y Joykumar and commando John.

A large number of Meira Paibis and local club volunteers while burning the effigies shouted slogans such as "We condemn murder of Uttamkumar", "Punish the killers at the earliest", "We condemn killing innocent people" etc.
