Students rally against murder of children

Imphal, April 04: Against the shocking murder of Muheni Martin and Hrinni Hubert and the brutal murder of Chinglenkhomba just for his petty ear rings and other cases of kidnapping children for ransom, a mass protest rally was taken out by students at Moirang today.

The rally organised by the Sustainable Development Centre (SDC), Thamnapokpi set off from Moirang Multipurpose Higher Secondary School and terminated at the same point after passing through Moirang Bazar and INA complex.

During the rally, students belonging to 9 different schools of Moirang shouted various slogans such as "Don't forfeit children's right to live", "Let children live freely", "Don't murder innocent children" etc.

They also hold placards written with similar words.

Before the rally was set off, a meeting attended mostly attended by students was held at the hall of Moirang Multipurpose Hr Sec School with Moirang A/C MLA M Manindra as chief guest and UNMM convenor RK Mema as functional president.

Many speakers addressing the meeting took serious note of the increasing cases of kidnapping children for ransom, killing children just to snatch their ear rings and the rape of under-aged girls.

They also vehemently condemned such threats to the lives of innocent children.

MLA Manindra, while conveying deep concern over such crimes committed against innocent children, called upon the people to take a firm collective resolution against such crimes and to act accordingly so that children do not ever fall prey to criminals in future.

The meeting adopted several resolution including to demand to punish all the criminals accused in kidnapping and killing children, snatching ear rings etc.

It also urged the authority concerned to book and punish the culprits involved in raping and murdering of 11 year old Samjetshabam Thambaltombi of Andro Awang Leikai.

Later, a memorandum containing all these resolutions was submitted to the Chief Minister through MLA Manindra.
