CrPC 144 imposed in Senapati

Imphal, May 02 2010: District Administration in Senapati district has imposed prohibitions under section 144 of the CrPC effective from this evening as there is likelihood of breaching the peace ad tranquility of the people in the district after government banned entry of rebel leader Th Muivah in the state.

Police announced the restrictions to the gathering of five or more people, staging of protest or any other functions without prior permissions from the DC of the district using laud speakers on the streets of the district this evening.

The prohibition under 144 of CrPC was imposed based on the police report of breaching the peace, tranquility and orders of the district in organising public function related with the visit of the NSCN (IM) leader, Th Muivah.

Police also pulled down all the banners and slogans erected by the civil organisations at various places of the district related with the felicitation of Muivah.

With the beefing up of security, the border between Nagaland and Manipur at Mao gate has also been shielded, reports said.
