Imphal, September 01 2010: The Ministry of Home Affairs has decided to pull out CRPF troops who have been escorting Imphal-bound oil-tankers and goods carrier trucks till Mao.

The MHA sent a written intimation to the Dimapur FCI office informing that CRPF would not be available for escorting trucks and oil-tankers till Mao, conveyed a source.

However a highly reliable source informed The Sangai Express late this evening that the CRPF will resume normal escort duty from tomorrow.

Categorically stating that it cannot spare CRPF troops for escorting trucks permanently, the MHA informed that CRPF would stop escorting oil-tankers and trucks between Dimapur and Mao.

Considering the problems likely to be created in the event of any crisis while crossing Nagaland, authorities have been lobbying with Petroleum Minister and the Union Home Minister not to pull out CRPF escorts from the route.

However, the authorities are yet to come to any understanding on the matter.
