SF slay 2 in separate incidents

Imphal, June 30: Two UG suspects have been gunned down by security force this evening in two separate incidents of shoot-outs.

In the first incident, a suspected UG cadre was gunned dawn by a team of Imphal West commandos at Sangaiprou near ISKCON temple under Lamphel police station this evening.

According to information received from police, two individuals moving in a suspicious manner along the lane to the north of ISKCON temple opened fire towards the commando personnel when they were asked to halt at about 5.20 pm.

While one of them was killed in the retaliatory fire, the other managed to escape.

Later, the corpse was found lying by a small canal by the side of the Lane from where one 9 mm pistol, a magazine and three live rounds were recovered.

The second shoot-out took place at a spot between Kwakeithel Thounaojam Leikai and Kwakeithel Mayai Koibi at about 7 pm.

The encounter which claimed another suspected UG cadre was with a combined force of Imphal West commandos and troops of 12 Maratha Light Infantry.

One 9 mm pistol and two live rounds were recovered from the possession of the slain cadre, informed a police source.

Both the corpses bearing multiple bullet marks have been picked up by police and deposited at RIMS morgue.

One shot: A 28 year bid man who was shot by unidentified gun men this afternoon has been admitted at RIMS.

Md Nazimuddin (28) s/o Jabbar was shot at by some unidentified persons near a canal at Mutum Phibou.

He suffered bullet injuries at the neck and right wrist.

Nazimuddin was shot by two persons who came on an NV scooter.

After shooting, they fled towards Pangal Siphai, said police sources.

As the local people rushed Nazimuddin to hospital, they came upon a police team at Hiyangthang.

The police team then assisted in bringing the victim till RIMS.
