Imphal, December 30 2009: Stating that it stands for all the people of Manipur, irrespective of community or religion, the United Committee Manipur (UCM) has clarified that it never view Bongbal Khullen villagers differently, conveyed a press release.

However, the UCM could not take the press statement of the Bongbal Khullen Village Authority lightly.

It is natural for the UCM to stand against all unprincipled activities which cause misery to the common people, it asserted.

The Nongbrang casualty was a result of the Government's failure to control UG groups under SoO pact in time although the villagers have repeatedly highlighted in media that UG groups have been demanding money and goods forcibly in total violation of SoO ground rules, the UCM asserted.

The Government should find out the facts and circumstances of the Nongbrang incident and take up necessary steps for a solution at the earliest.

It also called upon all people to understand the Government of India's alleged ploy of creating animosity among different ethnic groups of the land in the name of containing insurgency.

While showing solidarity to the women seriously injured in the firing by a UG group under SoO pact, the UCM condoled the death of the two youngsters in the incident, if they were innocent.

There is a crucial need to find out a constructive way to solve the various issues happening in Manipur together in order to ensure harmonious existence of all communities for eternity, the UCM added.
