Nagaland team to arrive today by road

Imphal, May 25 2010: The differed visit of the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) led by its president I Imkong has been rescheduled and the team will arrive tomorrow to Imphal on surface road, an official source said.

Mention may be made that the team which also includes opposition leader of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly, Apou Jamir, son of former Nagaland Chief Minister, SC Jamir among the six member team was scheduled to arrive on May 24 last from Dimapur by air.

But it was deferred all of a sudden on the day of arrival in Imphal.

The team is scheduled to leave Kohima at 8 am and is expected to arrive at Mao gate by around 9 am.

From Mao gate, the team will be escorted by a combined team of state IRB, Assam Rifles and CRPF from Mao gate to Imphal, the source said.

The Nagaland Congress team who will come to discuss on the inter-state relationship between the two states in the wake of scheduled but now deferred visit of NSCN (IM) general secretary, Th Muivah in the state.

The team will hold meetings with the state Congress leaders and will also meet with the Chief Minister, O Ibobi.

Taking into account the stand-off between the government of Manipur, government of India and NSCN (IM) when the state government bar rebel leader Th Muivah from entering the state, the visit is considered to be an important one here.
