Imphal, April 25 2009: Apart from confirmation of the animal species whose carcass was found in Ungamen Pat (lake) of Keibul Lamjao National Park, experts speculate that the other death hog deer found yesterday in another location of the Park might have perished about 10 days back.

The carcass found from Ungamen pat has been confirmed to belong to the Hog Deer species which also share its habitat with the endangered Sangai in the only floating wildlife sanctuary, said a source.

moreover, skeletal remains of another Hog Deer was detected by a team of environmentalist who scanned certain pockets of the floating Park to assess damage in the wake of the recent anti-insurgency operation.

identification of both the animal species were confirmed in the course of research and post mortem of the recovered skeletal remains by veterinary experts at the laboratory of manipur Zoological Garden today, the source informed.
