Imphal, May 20: The joint secretary of Kuki Inpi (Tamenglong-Jiri Zone) Paoihum Khongsai (43) was stabbed to death by unidentified persons at Leisangphai village at around 7.30 pm yesterday and in retaliation of the killing, one of the suspected murderers was hacked to death by an irate mob later during the day, reports our Jiribam correspondent.

Paoihum Khongsai was the son Hemkhojang, the chief of Tatbung village in Tousem sub-division of Tamenglong district.

After news of the killing spread, an irate mob of Tatbung in retaliation hacked to death one of the suspects namely Seigin Khongsai (25) s/o late Khongkai of Leisangphai at around 1 pm yesterday.

Seigin Khongsai was said to be an active member of KNF (MC).

Both victims were brought to the CHC for post-mortem today and later handed over to their respective families.

An FIR has been lodged with the Jiri Police Station in connection with the incident.

Meanwhile, a solution to the incident of killings has been brought about after the intervention of Kuki Inpi and passing of a judgement in accordance to the customary laws.

In this connection, Inpi president PT Singson informed that an agreement to end the crisis has been reached.

The reason of the conflict, however, cannot be ascertained.
