Imphal, March 16: A suspected underground cadre who was shot and injured grievously by personnel of Imphal West police commandos today at about 7.40 pm at Sega Road, Thouda Bhabok Leikai (the lane that turns towards Chaoba LP School), succumbed to his injury before he could get medical attention.

As loud reports of gun fire rang out in the evening, this reporter along with others rushed towards the site of the incident and saw the youth lying face down on the road with a bullet injury on the back side of the waist.

The youth, whose identity is yet to be ascertained, was attired in a yellow coloured T Shirt, a jean pant and shoes.

A bullet which hit him on the back side of the waist exited through the stomach.

A 9 mm pistol along with five live rounds were found near the youth who was lying on the ground.

At about 8.10 pm a police team led by Additional SP K Tomba and took away the injured youth.

It was only after 8.20 pm that it was confirmed that the body of the youth was deposited at RIMS morgue.

Even as hordes of reporters descended at the scene of the incident, they could hear the injured youth moaning in a half conscious state.
