Imphal, October 11 2008: A twenty-eight-year-old woman trying to trade-off two kids to a source, but told to get in touch later was apprehended by volunteers of Young Vaiphei Association a philanthropic organisation and handed over to the local police to face the law of the land, reported our Churachandpur correspondent S Singlianmang Guite.

Lamneiting (28) daughter of Lalsiamthang of Kangvai allegedly kidnapped two kids from her village on Thursday night at around 9pm near Kangvai Higher Secondary School.

According to sources in the police she then took them to one L Laishram Indu of Tera Lukram Leikai in Imphal for ransom but she was told to bring the duo on Monday as their contact was out of station.

Fate seems to disown her as she was apprehended by YVA Kangvai unit who were strictly monitoring the case of missing kids at Maichammun village, even as she holed them up before reproducing them to her client at Imphal on Monday.

In the FIR to the police, Lalneu Vaiphei, Secretary of the YVA Kangvai unit said they were informed on Saturday evening that the missing kids identified as Kamlemsang Vaiphei (12) son of (L) Nekkhosat and Lamhaulien (13) son of (L) Lamminthang were at Maichammun.

Upon raiding the village by its volunteers the duo along with their woman kidnapper were apprehended.

The police were unable to explain on how the kidnapped children were to be exploited as the captor was yet to be interrogated.

However she reportedly told some reporters that they were meant for recruiting them in an armed group.

but her contention remains incomprehensible as she again claimed that she was trying to sell them for a price.

Coming from a broken family, according to local source, the woman captor made her living supposedly on pulling a rickshaw at Imphal and in order to earn some easy money following a tip off from Laishram Indu she resorted to kid napping the kids.

L Indu originally is from Tuibuang village but is settled at Tera Lukram Leikai for quite sometime now.
