Imphal, September 10: A team of Thoubal district police commandos arrested one PULF cadre during a frisking drive at Thoubal Kshetri Leikai identifying as Md Abdul Subhan (29) s/o Md Tayub Ali of Yairipok Chingtha while he was coming on an auto rickshaw yesterday.

On the same day, at around 3:30 pm, acting on a credible information about the presence of KCP cadres in the general area of Charangpat and Nepra Company villages, Thoubal district police commandos rushed to the area and conducted frisking to check the movement of armed cadres at the area.

At about 4:10 pm, two youths coming from Hayel Labuk side in a motor cycle were asked to stop by the commandos.

However, on seeing the commandos, the rider tried to reverse the direction taking out a pistol and opened fire towards the police team.

The commandos returned the fire and ensued an encounter for about 2-3 minutes shooting dead the pillion rider while the rider managed to escape towards Moirangpalli.

One 9 mm pistol marked as CH 961133 USA, one magazine loaded with two live rounds and two empty cases of 9 mm ammunition were recovered from the deceased, said a press release of Thoubal SP.

A team of Imphal East commandos on September 8 arrested three KCP and RPF sympathisers identifying as Subot Kangsa Banik (27) s/o Sunil Kangsa Banik of Thangal Bazar, Champa Kangsa Banik (24) d/o Sunil Kangsa Banik and Sujit Kangsa Banik (22) s/o Sunil Kangsa Banik of Hatta.

On verification they disclosed that they are the sympathisers of KCP and RPF and involved in extortion from Waheng Leikai and Thangal Bazar.

Imphal East district police commandos arrested one KCP (MC) cadre identifying as Sagar Wannuailian Aimol (37) s/o Jacob Aimol of Pallel Aimol Khullen at present residing at Hatta Golapati from Hatta yesterday.

A combined team of Imphal East commandos including women police and 32 AR yesterday arrested one PREPAK woman cadre namely Oinam Debla Devi (23) d/o Itomcha of Ishok Awang Leikai from the house of one Soibam Rita (37) w/o (L) S Joychandra of Haobam Marak irom Leikai and recovered one 9 mm pistol loaded with six live rounds in the magazine and two extra rounds of 9 mm ammunition, said a press release of Imphal East SP.

Meanwhile, 32 AR also apprehended one cadre of PULF (Azad) identifying as Md Nasemuddin alias Achouba (23) s/o (L) Burhan of Lilong Chingham Makha yesterday.

In another incident, troops of 12 Maratha LI apprehended one suspected KYKL cadre identifying as Knatremam Singh (25) s/o KS Tomba of Sagolband yesterday.

The individual has been handed over to Lamphel Police station today, said a press release of PRO Hqs IGAR (S).
