KSO opposes to upgrading Moreh town

Imphal, July 10: Opposing to the proposal of for upgrading Moreh into a Municipal town, Kuki Students' Organisation (KSO) Moreh Block has categorically stated that along with other right thinking social bodies it would never allow the proposal of the Chief Minister to be implemented.

In a statement, general secretary of KSO Moreh block William Haokip contended that the June 9, 2007 incident was a reason of administrative lapses.

So the Chief Minister and his trusted men should not try to take advantage of the incident by evoking the Municipality Act in Moreh.

371of Indian Constitution should be applied so as to provide the rights of Tribals' in the Hill Districts, the student body said, adding that it will always stand against development schemes/funds to Moreh until the Hill Act is applied in Moreh.

" Do not try to bargain us with development funds" and " It is the idea of communal leaders to apply Municipality Act in Moreh", the student body said, adding that the CM should be held responsible for any unwanted incidents in the event of any attempt to apply the Municipality Act in Moreh.

The KSO Moreh block further thanked all the social bodies and student bodies who have visited Moreh in connection with the recent June 9th incident and to solve the problems of Moreh.

The KSO also thanked the NSUC, ANSAM, ATSUM, KSO Ghq for their stand against Municipality Act in Moreh and appealed for further support to any course of action in the future in this connection.
