Meet urges to end eco-blockade

Imphal, July 09: A number of resolutions were adopted in the course of the �One day open house discussion on present economic blockade in Manipur� organised by united Committee Manipur (UCM) at Hotel Excellency today.

Among others the session resolved to prevail upon both the Central and State Governments for maximum effort in settling the current indefinite economic blockade issue and to ensure availability of essential commodities.

Development of National Highways No 39 & 53 as well as to convert into action assurance on adequate security cover on these lifelines.

Another resolution pertains to demanding a special Assembly session within July 15 for highway protection and development.

The fourth resolution concerns appealing to all organisations against resorting to campaign detrimental to interest of inter-community relationships.

Reiteration on safeguarding territorial integrity of Manipur and preserving status quo on declaring June 18 as holiday were the other resolutions adopted at the meet presided by UCM president in-charge K Lanngamba with MU professor W Nabakumar as the moderator.
