Imphal, June 05: Reacting to the claim of Kuki National Organisation (KNO) on killing Y Roshan and charges levelled against the deceased, the JAC formed against the killing has asserted that the charges are baseless and denounced KNO as an outfit hellbent on fuelling communal tension among the peace living people of Moreh.

In a statement signed jointly by its two co-convenors, the JAC said the charges levelled against Roshan of causing misunderstanding among the different communities in Manipur is totally baseless and unfounded.

Roshan was an innocent man who opened a shop at Moreh after marrying a tribal woman.

He never worked against the interest of any community nor tried to incite communal feeling.

Moreover, there had been no instances in which any person or organisation had given warning to him against such alleged indulgences or parading him before mediapersons, the statement said.

While recalling an earlier resolution of the people of Moreh to collectively punish any individual who is found guilty of driving wedge among the communities living in Manipur, the statement said that the recent action of the KNO in heaving charges after killing an innocent person has shown that KNO is an organisation which is hell bent on creating communal tension among the people.

JAC strongly condemned the trend of levelling false charges against an innocent person after having killed.

JAC also condemned the attempt being made by the personnel of 24 Assam Rifles to arrest another innocent person identified as Koijam Sushil in connection with the tension prevailing as a direct outcome of the killing, the statement said.

Sushil is an innocent person who operates a hotel to earn his livelihood, the statement clarified, while appealing to the authorities concerned for putting a rein on the conduct of the 24 AR so as to avoid any unwanted consequences.
