Last rites of slain AE performed

Imphal, April 01: Along with performing the last rites and offering of last respect, the mortal remains of AE of Works Department Keisham Nabachandra who was shot dead by cadres of the armed outfit KCP (City Meetei) has been cremated today amidst heart-rending cries of the bereaved family members and well-wishers.

After the post-mortem examination at RIMS mortuary and before performing the last rites, the mortal remains was taken to the head office of the PWD at Khoyathong where his colleagues and other staff paid their last respect.

Works Minister K Ranjit, Agriculture Minister N Loken, Chief Engineer and other staff, family members, relatives were also present in aying the last respect to the departed soul before the mortal remains was finally brought to his birth place Utlou for the last rites.

Condemning the incident of killing AE Nabachandra near his own residential gate, Works Minister K Ranjit said it was very unfortunate.

'Such incidents of killing for ransom may not be found anywhere in the world and should not be condoned.

Killing is not the solution and would lead to nothing.

God will also not forgive the killers', the Minister said.
