Imphal, December 30 2009: While strongly condemning the killing of Paolenlal Chongloi and Paosat Kipgen, the Kuki National Front (KNF) has rebuffed the claim of the Nongbrang villagers that the duo were its cadres as baseless and fabricated, merely to justify their barbaric act.

A statement issued by the outfit's information and publicity secretary, LH Stephen appealed to the villagers, villagers elders and leaders of Nongbrang village to accept their crime and take steps to defuse the situation instead of creating fabricated stories and making baseless allegations that can worsen the tense situation.

It would be prudent not to issue challenges based on fabricated stories if there is to be peace and security in the area, the outfit said.

The outfit also appealed to the State Government to take just and fair steps in accordance to truth, and not based on fear of any reaction or pressure so that there can long term peace in the area.

"The front would also like to advise all social organisations like the UCM etc that they should have the courage to take the line of truth and work with fairness if they want a peaceful and progressive society in Manipur.

"They should verify their findings before going to the press as such wrong information only adds fuel to the fire.

Their outlook of Manipur should encompass the whole political boundary of Manipur and not the Imphal valley alone", the KNF exhorted.

It further reminded the Government as well as the people that there can be no progress and development without peace and there can be no peace unless all section of people of all communities living in Manipur feel secure and they do not have the feeling of being neglected, alienated and unjustly dominated by the majority community of the land.

"It is the desire of peace and development that the KNF, in particular and all the Kuki UG groups entered into the Suspension of Operation with both the State Government and Government of India.

We expect fairness and justice on the part of the Government", it added.
