Imphal, June 29: Strongly reacting to the harsh words used in condemning the bomb blast at a dharna site at Ningthoukhong on June 26, the proscribed PREPAK said that it is an outfit which functions under the principle of democratic socialism and added that its Red Army have certain code of conducts, to which they adhere to.

Recalling the harsh words issued by another underground outfit in condemning the bomb blast, the outfit in a statement issued by self styled secretary in charge of department of publicity and propaganda, Aheiba Angom said that the condemnation came even after it had apologised to the public.

Explaining the circumstances under which the incident occurred, the outfit said that the words and slogans used by the protestors incensed two Red Army cadres.

The intention was to trigger the low intensity bomb to disperse the dharna but it was lobbed from a moving vehicle, the bomb exploded near the protestors resulting in injuries to about 10 people.

This was a grave mistake on the part of the cadres, it admitted.

Coming back to the scathing condemnation, the outfit said that the underground outfit which had insinuated that the bomb blast could be at the behest of the common enemy, had overlooked their earlier conduct.

Recalling a series of bomb blasts which were engineered by the said outfit, PREPAK said that if it can be called a terrorist outfit on the basis of the Ningthoukhong blast, then what about the Pourabi bomb blast on December 16, 2007 in which eight persons including five women were killed while many others were maimed.

Was this an act of heroism?, countered PREPAK.

Citing more example, the statement recalled the bomb blast at Lilong Chajing in the morning of August 15, 2003 in which six people including three women killed while another 15 including seven women sustained grievous injuries.

Can this be called a revolutionary act, it countered.

The bomb blast near City police at MG Avenue some years back also claimed the lives of innocent people, said'PREPAK and questioned whether this was necessary revolutionary act.

PREPAK does want to go into details of killing a journalist or personal issues, said the statement further.

Citing further instances, PREPAK said that many civilians were killed when members of the said outfit attacked CRPF personnel at Heirangoithong in 1984.Fifteen civilians were also injured when a bomb blast was triggered during a Thabal Chongba event at Tera Loukrakpam Leikai in April 1996.The statement also recalled how cadres of the said outfit killed a student of Navodaya Vidyalaya, Kak-ching, Ningthoujam Romeo in 1998 during a Thabal Chongba festival at Heirok.

At that time, the people of Heirok had announced the entry of cadres of the said outfit to Heirok would be banned.

Since the other outfit had insinuated that the Ningthoukhong blast looked like it was done at the behest of the common enemy, PREPAK too cannot help but interpret their statement as the handiwork of the enemy to divide the people.

The mistakes committed by the other outfit are far more than the errors committed by PREPAK, it asserted.

The harsh words used in condemning the Ningthoukhong blast is surprising as such harsh words were not used in condemning the killing of migrant workers, said the statement.

No outfit wants to inflict deaths or injuries on the civilians, said the outfit and asserted that PREPAK believes in co-existence and not in taking advantage of the mistakes committed by other groups.

Cosmetic unity has no place on PREPAK's agenda.

The statement also said that PREPAK is not in any way related to the killings of migrant workers some time back.
