Imphal, October 27 2009: After a young girl was beaten to death by a deranged youth at her own home, the youth was also hacked to death by the girl's father with a knife (khukhri).

The double killing occurred at Uyumpok Mamang Leikai under Lamlai police station at about 5 pm today.

Nine year old Sangita alias Boinu d/o Sanjoy of Uyumpok Mamang Leikai Nepali Basti was clubbed to death by Wayenbam Naocha (25) s/o Maniratan of Uyumpok Lampak Leikai.

According to locals, Boinu was in the kitchen when Naocha came from behind and hit her with a club on the back of her head.

The girl died on the spot.

As Boinu's father came back to the house after buying cooking oil, he saw Naocha standing beside Boinu's corpse.

Learning about the killing, the local people rounded up Naocha and brought him to the ground of the Welfare Youth Club at Uyumpok Mamang Leikai.

As local people were trying to inform police amidst the din, Sanjoy came running with a khukhri and slashed Naocha repeatedly killing him on the spot.

After killing Naocha, Sanjoy surrendered to the local club volunteers and Meira Paibis.

A team of Lamlai Police later picked up the corpses and deposited them at RIMS mortuary.
