Imphal, June 24: Police bomb experts retrieved a bomb which was reportedly placed by unidentified persons from a house at Zomi Villa, North AOC here this morning.

Round in shape, the bomb, a grenade with a 90 mark III printed on it was found placed on the window sill of the verandah of the house belonging to one Chungpao Kipgen (50) s/o Sehkholal of Zomi Villa, North AOC.

Chungpao Kigpen is Chungpao Kigpen is said to be a social activist and his house was located just adjacent to the road.

The bomb was detected at around 9 am and it was safely retrieved by the bomb experts at around 10.30 am today.

According to Chungpao, much to his surprise on Sunday last some of his friends have come to his house to enquire about explosion of a bomb in his house on the night of the previous day, although no such explosion had ever taken place.

After the bomb was detected this morning, it was reported to the police.

Chungpao said that he has no idea who have placed the bomb and for what reason.
