Imphal, August 21: With the law and order situation of the State deteriorating, District Magistrate of Imphal West, A Ibocha Singh has imposed prohibition orders in the whole area situated under Imphal West District under Sub-section 2 of Section CrPC 144 .

The order which has came into effect from 5 pm of August 20 prohibits the assembly/gathering of 5 (five) or more persons after 5 pm which is likely to turn unlawful in the area under the Imphal west District Magistrate.

The order also prohibits the carrying of sticks, stone, firearms and weapons of any other descriptions or objects which can be used as offensive weapons with the said area.

The order is to function until further orders.

The District Magistrate however stated that this order would not apply to the agencies of government involved in the enforcement of law and order and the maintenance of essential service.

He also informed that those wanting to take up procession for marriage, funeral or religious purposes etc.

within the said area should apply to the district magistrate for permission and that no procession was to be taken until the permission was granted them.

This prohibition order came into force after reports by police to the District Magistrate of unlawful activities of some anti-social elements which were likely to breach peace and tranquillity of the people in the said area.
