Lamka, December 18 2008: Upset over the incident that ensued following the shooting of two locals by armed youths at Kwakta on Tuesday, KSO Churachandpur district today expressed suspicion of a malicious intention in the aftermath incidents that charred one to death reducing four houses to ashes.

"They are playing communal cards", KSO's General Secretary Seiboi Haokip told the press today.

If they were incensed on the act of the armed youths, they should act over them and not target the innocent people.

Even after killing an armed men and duly ransacking the residence of one Haokam, who was accused of collaborating with the armed men, the mob still went ahead and attacked innocent villagers and their residence, he said.

"We have learned that the mob that torched the houses was led by one Abo, who regrouped with a malicious intention after the houses were ransacked earlier", he told the media and alleged that the entire episode arose due to peddling of drugs.

The KSO Churachandpur along with other civil organisations including the JAC of Kwakta has been rigorously pursuing against drug peddlers since August this year.

The incident that cropped up on Tuesday was as a result of an unknown armed group pursuing these peddlers, alleged the student leader.

"They may attack the armed men, go after their cohorts, but why the innocent villagers", he queried.

The student leaders also claimed that it would be logically unacceptable to say that a 45 year-old-man was charred to death when his house was razed on fire by the mob.

He will surely have a run for his life, if he wasn't murdered beforehand, he said.

Demanding an explanation on the aftermath action of the mob that destroyed property worth Rs 25 lakhs and robbed three kids of their only surviving parent, if it lacks communal tone, the student body said it wants the explanation at the earliest.

The KSO/CCpur Gen Secretary also called on the Government to commission an inquiry on the entire affair and clarified that Ukha Tampak is under Churachandpur's Henglep sub-division and not under Bishnupur district.
