Imphal, June 13: In protest against the recent twin incidents of killing 11 civilians at Moreh as well as shooting of one person to death and injuring two others by armed persons at Langol Laimanai, Salai Apunba Nupi Lamjing Lup staged a Wakat Meepham in front of its office building here today.

Placards inscribed with slogans condemning 'action' of security personnel in fanning communal tension at Moreh, urging all to defuse communal tension and stop fratricidal killings and respect human rights were used during the protest demonstration.

Speaking to mediapersons, president of the Lup Thingnam Ongbi Ibethoi said no mother would like to see killing taking place among their children. Before killing any innocent person, the armed persons should understand the suffering and difficulty that would be caused to the surviving family members including children, she said, while appealing to all concerned to stop fratricidal killings.

Similar protest demonstration in condemnation of the violent incidents at Moreh was also staged at Kongba Bazar today.
