Bodies flay Govt, hail NSCN (I-M)

Imphal, January 13: Many voluntary organizations and specially women's bodies have hailed the efforts of the NSCN (I-M) in rounding up James Kuki, the main accused in the kidnapping and subsequent murder of Baby Lungnila Elizabeth, while criticizing the SPF Government for its inability to solve the case.

All Manipur Tammi-Chingmi Apunba Nupi Lup, in a statement said that the inability of the Government to arrest and punish the murders even after more than two months has only disclosed its own inherent weakness.

The very fact that the Government has not been able to come out with a truthful statement on the issue has only raised suspicions in the mind of the people of involvement of Ministers, police officials and even the Chief Minister himself in the brutal murder in one way or the other, the statement said, demanding resignation of Chief Minister if he is not able to produce all the culprits within January 20.It also warned of mass agitation against the Government it cannot arrest the culprits.

Hailing NSCN (I-M) for its effort in capturing the kingpin behind the crime, James Kuki, the women's bodies maintain-ed that for there is no difference between an outlawed or an illegal organization as long as it conduct itself in the interest of the people.

Paona Bazar Women's Welfare Organization and Shamurou Nupi Chaokhat Thourang Lup, in separate press releases, categorically stated that James Kuki, the main accused in the case and who is presently in the custody of NSCN (I-M) should not be handed over to the State Government at all but to the people of the State directly for according fitting punishment.

The releases asserted that the State Government has no right over the custodian of James Kuki as it has not been able to nab him and so he should be handed over to the womenfolk of the State who are still suffering from the pang of separation from their beloved daughter Elizabeth.
