Imphal, May 12 2010: Two more government offices, one each in Senapati and Ukhrul district were set on fire in the series of arson of government offices in the four hill districts of state apparently link with barring Muivah from entering the state.

The office of the Executive Engineer Division-IV at Senapati district was torched by some miscreants in the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday, police said adding the office of the Co-operative Society located just near the Ukhrul DC office was also set ablaze last night.

Most part of the office structures along with furnitures and office documents of the offices were partially damaged before the police and fire service could put the fire under control, police reports said.

With two offices burnt down last night as many as 27 offices in four hill districts have so far been torched in the series of arson attacks at the government offices in the aftermath of the violence incident at Mao gate that claimed life of two youths and injured to several others.

With 11 offices burnt down so far according to police case registered with the attacks on government offices, maximum number of offices was torched in Ukhrul district.

Eleven offices have so far been burnt down in the district.

With six offices burnt down, Chandel in the second position followed by Tamenglong (five) and four in Chandel district.

Meanwhile, staging of protests against the government decision baring entry of Muivah and supporting government decision were staged at various places of both hills and valley areas.

In Chandel, womenfolk of Zaphou and its surrounding villages staged a sit-in protest at Zaphou Bazar to register strong protest against government decision of banning Muivah from entering the state and condemning the May 6 incident at Mao gate that claimed life of two youths and injure to several others.

Another same protest was also staged in Gandhi Chok of Ukhrul district.

Sit-in demonstrations decrying Muivah's visit in the state and extending supports to Manipur government supports were also staged at various part of the valley districts.

It were carried out at Bishnupur Bazar, Moirang Bazar in Bishnupur district, Thoubal Bazar in Thoubal district, Khurai, Heikrumakhong and Khurai Popular in Imphal east district and at Keishampat, Nepra Menjor Leikai etc in Imphal west district.
