Imphal, April 12 2009: Observing that PDA candidate in Outer Manipur Parliamentary Constituency Mani Charenamei has been shouting to disintegrate Manipur in his pursuit for Naga integration, senior Advocate Khaidem Mani has signalled the MP to stop his 'disintegration campaign' in Manipur which is inhabited by several communities.

Speaking to media persons at his Loklaobung residence here today, Khaidem Mani asserted that making propaganda which has potential to harm the honour and prestige of a particular community or individual in the election campaign just to get more votes is against law.

The Lok Sabha candidate openly speaking for Naga integration at the expense of Manipur's integrity at different election rallies held at Senapati, Ukhrul and Tamenglong cannot be dismissed lightly.

For this, Mani Charenamei can be booked under sub-section 153 (A) of the Indian Penal Code, the senior Advocate said.

Asserting that disintegration of Manipur or not and removal or non-removal of Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act 1958 is not in the hands of a single MP, Khaidem Mani noted that the matter can take a definite shape only when there is a consensus among the 543 members of the Parliament.

As such, the agenda of Naga integration being pursued by Mani Charenamei will not be successful in breaking up the integrity of Manipur, the senior Advocate noted.

While appealing to the people not to worry much about the integrity of Manipur, Khaidem Mani, nevertheless, called upon the people to be wary of the possible ugly outcomes that may result from Mani Charenamei's speech.
