Mani tears apart muivah�s statement

Imphal, January 12: Reacting to Muivah�s uttering at New Delhi on January 10 ��it (Ukhrul) is not the land of the Meiteis,� DPP president Khaidem Mani today said that the statement is communally charged.

Speaking to newsmen at Hotel Excellency today, Khaidem Mani said that the Meiteis have never ever claimed that the valley area belongs only to the Meiteis.

He added that the majority community has never tried to whip up communal passion in the State.

Kh Mani further said Muivah ought to be booked under Section 153(A) of the IPC for trying to create communal disturbance in Manipur.

Though the DPP has always been welcoming the peace process between the NSCN (IM) and the government of India, the communally charged statement of Muivah has forced the party to shift its stand on the peace talk, he added.

The DPP leader further said that he peace talk should proceed only after Article 3 of the Indian Constitution is amended to protect he territorial integrity of Manipur.

He further said the Centre should not agree to the anything that may compromise with the boundary of Manipur.

Appealing to all to come together and jointly oppose any design to dismember the boundary of Manipur.

Mani asked the people to be vigilant and be ready for any challenges.
