Imphal, January 11: The Peoples' Protection and Development Committee (PPDC), Wangoi formed after the killing of W Sanatomba Singh, AI, ZEO Wangoi on January 9 has agreed to take back the mortal remains of the late officer after a five point Memorandum of Understanding was signed with the Government today.

The MoU was signed during a meeting with the CM-in-charge Th Debendra.

The agreement included immediate action to be taken up by the police to arrest the culprits, to sympathetically consider the demand to appoint the wife of the deceased under the die-in-harness scheme, ex-gratia of Rs 1 lakh to the bereaved family before the Shraddha ceremony of the deceased, Government to consider the demand of the JAC to continue payment of the salary of the deceased till the time of his retirement.

Meanwhile, the PPDC in a statement said that it would be so much better for the State if only an individual, who has wronged is given the chance to reform himself.

Even if individual fails to reform at the warning of an armed group, the matter may then be taken to the local bodies so that he or she may be given another chance.

This method will go a long way in minimising the incidents of heaping blames and charges after a person has been done to death, it observed and urged all to contact the PPDC, Wangoi if it falls within its jurisdiction, said the statement further.

Even if this fails, then action may be taken up.
