Imphal, August 04: With the development of NH-53 becoming a priority agenda for the State Govt in the backdrop of the frequent blockades imposed on NH-39, the Union Home Ministry has summoned the State Chief Secretary to Delhi on August 8 to discuss the development of NH-53.Disclosing this to The Sangai Express, an official source said that the Chief Secy is scheduled to meet the Union Home Secy VK Duggal to discuss the development of NH-53.The meeting will centre around the issue of developing the highway and strengthening the bridges along this route, said the source.

Other than the Chief Secy, the DGP of Manipur, officials of BRO and other related security officers will attend the meeting.

The meeting will also discuss the 45 day economic blockade and the means to be taken up to ensure the transportation of petroleum products, food items and other essential commodities.
