Imphal, April 30 2009: Identity of the four UG suspects who were shot dead by combined forces in two separate encounters yesterday have been established today.

The three UG suspects who were shot dead by a joint team of Imphal West Police Commandos and 12 Maratha Light Infantry during an encounter at Tarahei Kongjil have identified as Lourembam Yaiphaba alias Sakhitombi (25) s/o Tomba of Liwa Road (Oinam), Kshetrimayum Sanjit alias Thoi (25) s/o Jiten of Naorem Leikai and Sagolsem Anand Meitei (20) s/o Menjor of Mayang Imphal Maibam Konjil.

Yaiphaba had stayed in Jiribam for around one year and earned his livelihood as an autorickshaw driver.

So his address in the driving license was given as Jiribam Leingangpokpi.

He reportedly left home after some police commandos came to his house looking for him about a month back.

Sanjit was formerly an RPF member and later worked in a Christian missionary centre in Punjab as a driver.

He returned home some seven years back but again left home about 20 days earlier.

As for Sagolsem Anand, he had reportedly left home one month back.

Yesterday was the Shradha ceremony of his younger sister.

Earlier he had also worked as a private security guard at Goa.

According to his father, Anand had been called by some armed persons in connection with a land dispute.

The identity of the UG suspect shot dead by a combined force of Imphal West Police Commandos and personnel of 39 Assam Rifles at Laingam Khul at around 9.30 pm yesterday has also been established today.

He was one Naorem Tomal alias Sunder Meitei (35) s/o late Ibotombi of Kakching Irum Mapal.

The body has been handed over to the family members after post-mortem examination at RIMS today.
